CENTER ASSISTANT/ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR
KUMON MATH AND READING CENTER OF DOBBS FERRY
Kumon is an after-school learning program that helps build a student’s confidence in math and reading by strengthening their knowledge base in core skills. Kumon is an individualized program that aims to build a child’s confidence and give them the skills to go beyond grade level.
The Kumon Center in Dobbs Ferry is looking to hire qualified individuals who enjoy working with children. The position will require working with students ages 3-18, and proficiency in math and reading/writing skills is necessary. Other responsibilities include grading homework and classwork, entering data into the center database system, preparing classwork and homework for the next center days. Ability to teach and motivate others is key. Assistant instructors will be trained to follow the Kumon method of learning.
The hours of commitment would be Mondays and Thursdays, from 2:30 to 7pm. Some Saturdays may be required, 9:30am to 12:30pm.
Ability to earn academic credit for completing internship
Authorized to work for any US employer
Bright and enthusiastic, able to encourage and motivate others
Preferred Early Education majors, or those interested in mathematics and writing
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Able to work with a team
Works well with children
Good administrative skills, data entry, answering phones, etc
Self-motivated, patient and takes initiative
