A candidate for the Young Educator position is currently studying to become an educator and is in an education program at a college or university. Preference will be given to candidates who have substitute teaching experience or classroom teaching internship experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Implement project-based program blocks that promote learning through thematic inquiry that is interdisciplinary
  • Implement hands on math and reading activities
  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team and Mentor Educator to understand how to implement project themes and curriculum
  • Adapt materials and projects to meet the needs of different age groups for grades 1 through 6
  • Lead at least two major program block (approximately 1.5 hours) and two math and reading program blocks (approximately 45 minutes to one hour) per day
  • Communicate with families about the experience and work of the children
  • Mentor the Counselors and LITs to give direct guidance and instructions for maximum effectiveness
  • Supervise and assist children in all of their activities with the goals of:
  • Promoting collaboration among students & staff
  • Establishing a mutual attitude of caring and creating among all students & staff
  • Assisting children with acquiring new skills during their program blocks
  • Infusing all activities with fun
  • Participate fully and with enthusiasm in all orientation week training sessions
  • Enforce the highest level of safety for children at all times

REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently, attending college or university studying education. Preferable, Early Childhood Education, Childhood Education, and/or Teaching English to Students of Other Languages
  • Social security card and state identification
  • Fingerprinting for any non-Mamaroneck School District employee
  • Two professional references for any non-Mamaroneck School District employee or new Co-Op employee

REQUIRED PROGRAM DATES & TIMES:

June 28, 2021 to August 6, 2021

8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday

8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Wednesday (weekly staff Meeting)

*all program start and end times/dates subject to change until program design is complete by June 1st

SALARY

  • Base Salary – $2,900
  • Performance Bonus – up to $250
  • Base Salary paid bi-monthly in July and August (3 payments total)
  • All bonus payments paid in the last salary check
