Telehealth Intervention Program for Seniors (TIPS) is an innovative and unique program offered by the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services and the Westchester Public/Private Partnership for Aging Services which provides a modern approach to delivering health and social services to our community. Students from different universities across Westchester provide hands-on support either via remote patient monitoring (taking of vital signs including blood oxygen, pulse, weight and blood pressure) and/or social support services (providing information, offering one-on-one supportive contact, completing assessments, etc.). Full training is provided.
We currently have openings for Social Support Associates (SSAs). We offer academic credit as well as formal social work field placements with weekly supervision. We typically look for mature, self-motivated students. Although we often supervise social work interns, we have worked with students from all different academic backgrounds. In addition, SSA roles and responsibilities include:
1.Travel to TIPS sites to work with Westchester seniors alongside TIPS team members
2.Engage in direct practice with participants
3.Complete intake and Benefits Checkup assessment, surveys, etc.
4.Participate in Dept. events
5.Participate in supervision
6.Attend and participate in mandatory training
Travel is required. A car is highly recommended.
