Lindsay is a manger at North Highland, one of the highest regarded consulting firms in the industry. Lindsay describes her work as “globally local”, meaning consultants will live in a close vicinity to their current client. Cutting out the stress of commuting and the impersonal feel of virtual consulting, Lindsay can focus all of her attention on her clients’ needs.

>> My name is Lindsay Faust. I am manager at North Highland and North Highland is a management consulting firm that focuses on helping clients when they have needs or issues, helping them solve their problems. So, the area that I mainly focus on is within change management. So, when an organization is going through a change, they obviously need some help sometimes. So, they may need some communications help to make sure that their employees are aware of the change, make sure that they have everything that they need in order to go through the change, and then also to make sure that they are supported after the change. In addition to that, they may have some training requirements. If they're introducing a new system or a new application, they may need to make sure that their employees are also trained on how to use that, that new system or application. So change management really focuses on all of those different areas, making sure that the employees have what they need to get through that change successfully. One of the unique things about a consulting company or probably any sales type of organization is that not only do you have your clients' needs but you also have your own company that you work for. So, I think the typical day would definitely include lots of meetings. My client right now tends to do a lot of teleconferences or live meetings, so both through the phone and through video, I often attend a lot of client meetings, then also for my own company, North Highland, meetings on any company initiatives that I am working for. That could also be just interviewing potential candidates for a job, getting prepared for one of our North Highland offsite meetings. So I think in a nutshell, it's a lot of meetings and that's pretty typical both in the office and virtually. So North Highland is actually a bit of a unique consulting firm in that we're globally local. So, what exactly does that mean? That means that we live and work where our clients also live and work. Our model is set up this way to help eliminate the stresses that traveling can often put on the consultant, so my travel is fairly minimal as long as it's within, I believe, the 50 mile radius of Philadelphia. So, luckily, I don't need to do too much hopping on and off of planes.
