🚨 Did you Know? 🚨 All resumes uploaded to Handshake must use a Mercy-approved template.

Head to the Career Prep tab → Creating Your Resume And Cover Letter. Navigate to the "Edit-Ready Resume Templates" to download the template for your school and major before uploading your resume to Handshake.

Welcome to your Career Technology Toolkit!

As a Mercy student, you have access to these online platforms to help you plan and navigate your career. All of them connect to your Mercy credentials, so if you’re asked for a login simply use your Mercy email address and password.

Remember, you are capable of achieving your career goals. When you need assistance, don’t hesitate to schedule an appointment with a career coach through Handshake to get started. Best of luck.

Handshake

Handshake is your go-to platform for finding internships, jobs, and employer connections. You can apply for jobs, internships, work-study positions, and more. You can attend virtual and in-person career fairs, employer events, and info sessions to build your network. Plus, you can schedule career advising with Mercy University’s career center for expert guidance on your job search.

Handshake is also where you get your resume approved before applying to positions with Mercy’s employer partners.

Focus 2

FOCUS 2 is your career exploration platform that connects your interests, Mercy major, and occupational information from the Department of Labor to help you investigate potential career paths.  Take a self-assessment, explore occupations, or research career paths in your major. The data in Focus 2 is the same that you might find in O*NET or the Occupational Outlook Handbook, but through Focus 2 it is connected to your interests and your Mercy education.

Big Interview

Big Interview is your 24/7 interview prep platform. In the Learn tab, browse the interview curriculum to watch or read lessons on preparing for an interview, navigating the experience, answering specific questions, overcoming fears or challenges, and selling yourself effectively. In the Practice tab, find a “practice set” of interview questions by industry, skill, or position type and record yourself answering questions. Watch these back to assess yourself, or send them to a career coach or trusted mentor for feedback.

Learn more on our Prepare for Interviews page.

Big Resume

Big Resume (part of Big Interview) is Mercy’s AI resume reviewer, built by our Career & Professional Development team using employer feedback nationwide. For best results, start by writing your resume with our template (not ChatGPT), then have Big Resume review it. Unlike outside AI tools, your information stays safe and private. This process gets you most of the way there, and a career coach can help with final touches.

Learn more about resumes, Handshake approval, and AI tips on our Resumes page.

Mercy Link

Mercy Link is your exclusive online career community, where you can connect to Mercy alumni for career advice and opportunities. Through Mercy Link, you can receive career advice, gain access to internships and job opportunities, and learn firsthand about the industries you’re interested in. Connecting with alumni is key to career success, and Mercy alumni are eager to share their knowledge, experiences, and opportunities to help you reach your goals.
