Director, Career Education & Operations
Shannon has been working in higher education for nearly 10 years, in various roles within career development including one-on-one coaching, program development and administration, and employer relations. She currently serves as the Director of Career Education and Operations at Mercy College.
Shannon is passionate about all things career and helping connect students to resources and opportunities to help them attain professional and personal fulfillment.
Shannon holds a Master Degree in Career Development from the College of New Rochelle and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from University at Albany. She is also SHRM Certified, and a Certified Professional Resume Writer and Career Coach.
Associate Director, Career and Faculty Partnerships
As Associate Director, Career and Faculty Partnerships, Lyn collaborates with faculty to support the implementation of intentional career education in curriculum. Among other initiatives, she manages the EPIC (Explore, Prepare, Implement, Career Launch) system of career milestones.
Lyn brings a combined background of career counseling and curriculum development in higher education to the Career Team at Mercy College. A first generation college graduate and Westchester native, Lyn is committed to helping Mercy College students discover, develop, and pursue their career paths.
Lyn holds a BA in French Language and Comparative Literature from SUNY Binghamton, an M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from Manhattanville College, a Professional Certificate in Career Planning and Development from New York University, and is a Certified Professional Resume Writer.
Associate Director of Career and Professional Development, Manhattan Campus
Mariana is the Associate Director of Career and Professional Development at the Manhattan campus. Mariana’s main responsibility is to assist in the development and delivery of career programming and career resources for the Manhattan students. Mariana is also in charge of data collection and analysis for the department, including the First Destination Survey.
Mariana holds a Master’s degree from NYU in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, a Certificate in Career Planning and Development and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Pace University.
Associate Director of Career and Professional Development
Joi Sampson has worked in higher education for over 10 years. In that time, she has worked within academic and student affairs divisions, which has given her the ability to build a holistic picture of what a student needs to be successful in and outside the classroom.
Joi supports students in the School of Health and Natural Sciences, is the community leader for the Health and Wellness career community and oversees the Internship Grant. Associate Director of Career and Professional Development, Bronx Campus
Liam is the Career Coach on the Bronx Campus. Liam supports the students in the Media, Marketing, and Communication Career Community and the Science Technology and Math Career Community. In addition to working closely with students, Liam manages the departments systems and marketing, assisting with the implementation of new technology and leading outreach to students.
Liam holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts.

Assistant Director of Career and Professional Development
Gina Villazhinay serves as the Assistant Director of Career and Professional Development and is responsible for leading the Accounting, Finance and Business Career Community. Gina works with business students to help them explore and implement their careers, as well as, partners with business faculty, staff and students to plan and execute events to engage students with alumni and employers.
Gina coordinates events on and off campus that aim to connect current students with employers for internships and full-time opportunities. In addition, Gina assists with data analysis of the EPIC program and manages the career team’s student worker staff.
Gina earned a BA in Sociology and Communication from SUNY Geneseo and earned her MBA in Managerial Analytics at Mercy College. Gina takes pride in being a first-generation college graduate and utilizes her fluency in Spanish to better assist our Hispanic Serving Institution.

Allen Rossetti joined the Career and Professional Development team in October of 2018 as a Career Coach and leads the Human Services and Education Career Community.
Allen received a Master of Education in College Student Services Administration from the College of Saint Rose and an undergraduate degree in history from SUNY Oneonta.

Director of Employer Relations
Julia Wexler is the Director of Employer Relations for Mercy College.
She has solidified relationships with over 400 employers since joining Mercy in 2016, which has resulted in 200+ internships and full time jobs for our students.
Julia worked for two decades as a Partner for a wall street Executive Search firm; she completed her Master’s Degree and an Advanced Coaching Certification from Columbia University and Columbia Business School. Her undergraduate degree is from the State University of NY at Albany University.
Employer Relationship Manager, Career and Professional Development
Sara Shepherd currently serves as the Employer Relationship Manager at Mercy College. Her primary focus is to create, develop, and maintain relationships with employers who have interest in hiring Mercy College students for internships in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, School of Liberal Arts, and School of Health and Natural Sciences.
Sara has also served as Associate Director of Career and Professional Development where she focused on marketing, system maintenance, and working with students in the School of Liberal Arts. Sara’s first role at Mercy College was Assistant Director for Career and Professional Development. Her primary goal in this role was to develop and implement a dynamic, integrated, and comprehensive suite of career programs and services for current undergraduate students.
Prior to working at Mercy College, Sara was an Employment Manager at a social service agency where she handled hiring procedures and performed human resource functions agency wide. Sara holds a Master of Science in Human Resource Management and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration specializing in Marketing from Mercy College.
Associate Director of Career and Professional Development, New Rochelle Campus
Dorlene Curwen is the Associate Director of Career and Professional Development at the New Rochelle (CNR) campus. Dorlene leads the Clinical Healthcare Career Community and oversees career readiness and career management trainings for the Brooklyn, Harlem and New Rochelle campuses. She is also responsible for leading the Career team’s marketing initiatives.
Dorlene has had a successful 10+ year working career for 2 of the country’s largest Cable companies. She has also worked as an Employment Specialist for a non-profit human services and community development organization for Federal Inmates.
Dorlene earned her Master of Science Degree in Career Development from The College of New Rochelle and her Bachelor of Science Degree in Management and Business Administration from St. John’s University. She brings her background and experience in business administration and sales as well as her passion and enthusiasm to empower students through their career journey.

As a Career Specialist, Samantha supports the career team’s day-to-day operations. She assists with executing undergraduate career programming, planning events, and reporting. Samantha also meets with students and visits classrooms to promote career education.
Prior to graduating from Manhattanville College with a B.A. in Psychology, Samantha worked closely with her school’s Center for Career Development. She acted as both a student worker and an intern, where she assisted in preparations for career events and managed the data through her school’s online career database. She also launched a Peer Career Advisor program that had great success in connecting students to the center and helping them develop strong resumes and job search skills.
Samantha worked in Human Resources after finishing at Manhattanville, is very excited to be back in higher education, and looks forward to working with Mercy students!
